Forty-five years on From a time I was nearly gone But I survived, I’m still alive And I’m here writing these songs. Forty-five years on And now living happily Luckily things came good For me eventually. I’m not alone, I’ve got a home And married with a wife I’m employed - my jobs enjoyed And have interests in life. Forty-five years on From that energetic child It’s strange how I’ve changed But now older and less wild. Would I have gone off the rails? Would I have written songs? Would I have been a loner? Would I have found where I belong? “On April 8th, 19 80 I nearly met my end But now it’s just history And a very distant memory But it never goes away A day I can’t forget And here 45 years later Nobody did expect.” Today is April 8th 20 25 45 years ago - dead nearly But now I feel so alive.
